I got this after it won the Booker, but didn't read it for ages. It's really great. It's unusual to have such an unlikable narrator. One of thes best India-based books I've read.

It's going to be the Book of the Month for March. It's received brilliant reviews.

I loved it as well. But then I usually like Indian novels.I love the way that even when all sorts of disaster, death, suffering, flood, famine and pestilence rage, the Indian spirit is to pick yourself up and dust yourself off - or at least that is the way of the literature. And so much humour despite it all - we could learn a lot in the West!
