The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows was recommended to me by a friend and the title alone would have encouraged me to hunt it down. Written in the form of letters it focuses on the occupation of Guernsey during World War 2 & the travails of the population during that period. It's a gentle, uplifting, moral and beautifully written book. I loved it and would highly recommend it.

I have just finished this book and I too thought it was fab. Love the format, the characters, I want to go to Guersney!
