Dip your toe into this book and it sucks you in. I am wallowing in it at the moment. Has anyone else read it?

I read it, and loved it, though it's quite disturbing. He's a great writer. The Virgin suicides is good as well.

Great book, I heard about in Oprah's book club last year. Very engaging, loved it!

Fiestykatie, speaking of Oprah, she is obsessed with 'A New Earth' how are you getting on with it?

I have that book A New Earth on order at the library would be interested in hearing if it is worth the read. I read Middlesex a while ago, and remember it was very weird but good

I wanted to love Middlesex but couldn't. :(
I found the first third of the novel riveting but it went downhill from there, for me. I left it about two-thirds of the way in when I just didn't care about the characters anymore.Loved The Virgin Suicides so was very disappointed with Middlesex.

Carizza i felt exactly the same way about Middlesex. The first 1/2 was brilliant and then i started to lose interest - i think i might have hit the 2/3 mark too when i gave up on it!

Loved the book, found it absorbing all the way through, definitely one of my all time favourite reads. I lent it to "someone" & never got it back though, drives me mad.
