Yes ... read it some years ago. Super read on the lines of Anna Karenina.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I was expecting to really enjoy it as I loved Anna Karenina by Tolstoy and have heard comparisons between these two books. I liked it but wasn't overly taken by it. I think that is largely to do with my dislike of the main character, Emma Bovary. I found her so irritatingly selfish.
While Anna Karenina was too guilty of similar infidelities I found her a likable character - who did appear to suffer guilt with regards her misdemeanors, and who did grieve the situation of separation as it arose between herself and her son, unlike Madame Bovary.
Loved the novel 'Anna Karenina', glad to have read 'Madame Bovary' but can't see myself rereading it.
